The steel developed by voestalpine closes the gap in strength with hot-formed steels and achieves substantial benefits in bending and roll-forming. Its property profile is perfect for lightweight automotive design and for safety and crash components in cold forming. In the SLIMulations, original steels were compared with possible martensitic steels based on specific components. Corresponding crash tests were simulated. The baseline represents a 5-star-safety mid-size car (source: NCAP).
