Highest-quality surfaces on steels for exposed panels
Highest surface quality, perfect cold forming, high dent resistance and high corrosion resistance are the most important criteria in the automotive lightweight design of steels for exposed panels. ahss steels made by voestalpine meet these requirements and go even further. They are available as hot-dip galvanized and electrogalvanized steel strip.
Reduction of steel thickness
With ahss dual-phase steels from voestalpine, further thickness reduction can be achieved through constant dent resistance. The diagram shows bake-hardening steels with minimum yield strengths of 180, 210, 240, 270 MPa when compared to dual-phase CR330Y590T-DH steel.
Ideal for filler-free coating systems
New filler-free coating systems demand the highest surface quality of hot-dip galvanized steels for exposed panels. Fewer coating layers and thinner coating thicknesses reveal even the smallest surface imperfections and impurities on the steel surface and can negatively impact the final coating appearance. Through optimized processes in steel strip production, voestalpine guarantees a quality level that ensures uniform surface quality and an excellent appearance for the new coating systems.texplus® surface quality is also available on request. The waviness characteristic value (Wsa) is reduced to a minimum, even after forming and coating.
Benchmark of the industry
With ahss dual-phase steels, ahss complex-phase steels and high-quality zinc coatings, voestalpine offers a portfolio of unique surface quality that meets the most demanding requirements. The quality of voestalpine steels for exposed panels is unsurpassed.
