New Head of the Steel Division
As of 1 October 2014, Herbert Eibensteiner (51) is taking over management of the Steel Division, which continues to be the largest division of the voestalpine Group, generating 3.8 billion euros in revenue.
The Linz native has already been a Member of the Management Board of voestalpine AG for two years and was previously responsible for the Metal Forming Division. In 1989, after graduating from the Vienna University of Technology (degree in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering), he began his career in the voestalpine Group as a plant engineer at the steelmaking site in Linz.
Subsequently, some of Eibensteiner's positions included Head of Quality Assurance of what is today the Steel Division, and Technical Director of voestalpine Krems GmbH (since 2000). In 2012, he was appointed Head of the Metal Forming Division, thus becoming a Member of the Management Board of the Group. In this role, he has particularly dedicated himself to accelerating the process of internationalization in the automotive sector. Under his direction, voestalpine invested well over 100 million euros in new plants producing components in China, Germany, Romania, South Africa and the United States.
"In the Steel Division, which up to now has been focused on Europe, we will also position ourselves more globally with our high-tech products in the future. We will continue to invest in our steel base, but in line with the Group's strategy, we are planning to concentrate on processing activities in the long term," says Eibensteiner, who will also continue to be responsible for the IT sector in the voestalpine Group.
