In fact, voestalpine is one of 15 partners in the fields of research, recycling and the supplier industry with whom Audi is testing the re-utilization of so-called post-consumer materials in new vehicles. The project will continue through April of this year, but promising results have already emerged with respect to steel. For example, voestalpine produced six steel coils with a secondary MaterialLoop content of roughly 12 percent. The coils meet high original quality requirements of Audi and can be used in sophisticated structural parts. This is why the German premium manufacturer will use it to produce up to 15,000 interior door components for the A4 at the stamping facility in Ingolstadt. The Four Rings company is also being provided support by voestalpine in gathering as much information as it can for the development and design of future car models. For example, intelligent circularity design will enable vehicle components to be designed such that they can be separated by type at the end of their lifecycle and reintegrated into the material cycle.
