Television stars from the training center

In mid October, Upper Austrian television station ORF will broadcast Service Tips on the topic of apprenticeships. The program will be broadcast directly prior to the evening news. Five contributions were filmed during the past few days in the training center of the voestalpine Steel Division. Each contribution consists of an occupational track from the perspective of an apprentice and a trainer.

"I was a little bit nervous, and my hand was shaking a bit while I was using the soldering iron. The film maker was very relaxed, and everything went very well," says Cornelia Plöchl (apprentice in electrical engineering: plant and operations technologies in her third year of training) In talking about her experience as a television star. She is looking forward to seeing herself on TV in the fall.

Okan Taskin (apprentice in his fourth year of training in the field of structural steel and welding techniques) was not nervous during the filming. He thought there would be a lot more people to work with the lighting and other technical activities. "It was interesting to see how simple it was. We took about two hours to film a total of 30 seconds of program time. Now I understand why it takes so long to make an action film. He is also looking forward to seeing the program on TV in the fall.

Director Markus Kaiser-Mühlecker was enthused by the preparation and willingness to help of the apprentices and the trainers from the voestalpine training center. "It was nice to see that the apprentices are really into what they are doing, that they are embellishing their talents and how well they are supported by the expert trainers," Markus Kaiser-Mühlecker said in summarizing the two days of filming.

Collaboration with ORF provides an opportunity for voestalpine draw attention to the amazing potential of the apprentices and the attractiveness of an apprenticeship at voestalpine.
