Stahlwelt now being renovated for a new world of exhibits

It was a historic date for voestalpine when the last group of visitors left the voestalpine Stahlwelt at 4:30 p.m. on 29 June 2024. The 50 visitors were the last ones to visit Stahlwelt as we knew it up until this time. Stahlwelt has been closed since 1 July and will remain closed for one and a half years. Construction work is in full swing.

The first steps in construction of the new Stahlwelt have already been taken. The iconic spheres that have dominated the building’s interior since 2009 have now been removed. The large metal spheres were carefully removed from their chains and placed on the ground without any damage..

Tour of the production facilities still possible

Despite the Stahlwelt renovation, those interested still have interesting opportunities. The popular tours of the production facilities at Austria's largest industrial site continue uninterrupted. A new tour terminal has been built roughly three hundred meters from the Stahlwelt as the tour starting point. The facility houses a cash desk and a waiting area for visitors as well as a small exhibit on the topic of greentec steel.

Event venue with some restrictions

There is a large event center in the voestalpine Stahlwelt. Two areas are affected by the renovation. Use of the large event hall has been discontinued, but the so-called FirstFloor remains open with minor restrictions for use as an event location with a capacity of up to 400 people.
