New scarfing bay at Linz location

The runup phase for the new scarfing bay is in full swing at the Linz location of the voestalpine Steel Division. Design of the new scarfing bay began in 2012. Construction began in February 2013, and assembly of the system components began a year later.

New challenges are surmounted by the new production processes. Slabs of up to 2200 mm in width can now be processed. The slabs are scarfed in non-contact using processes, and pure edge scarfing is also possible.
