High-quality steels secured for the future

The startup of the new continuous casting machine, CC8, was celebrated yesterday on 22 May 2018 at voestalpine Stahlwelt. The production line represents a state-of-the-art technological development with a production capacity of 1.2 million tons per year of slabs made of high-quality steel.
The new CC8 is of single-strand design and has been engineered to produce a thickness of 225 mm in widths ranging from 800 to 1820 mm. The forward-looking facility produces slabs for high-strength and ultra-low-carbon steels that meet the highest surface requirements primarily for applications in the the automotive and electrical industries.
The increased product quality produced in the new CC8 is a testimony to the company’s dedication to Linz as a production site. voestalpine continues to be an attractive employer, and the continuous caster has created 42 new jobs.
