Apprentices and pupils at the top
The summit of the Haiderberg (altitude of 907 m) is the highest point of the municipality of Sankt Leonhard, located on the Johannesweg (Way of St. John) pilgrimage route. This inspired students of the new secondary school in Sankt Leonhard to erect a summit cross as part of the "Tu was" project.
They designed a cross and the project was submitted. Then, voestalpine was contacted by a jury member.
Eventually, the apprentices of voestalpine's apprentice workshop manufactured the metal frame of the cross according to the design of the pupils. Furthermore, the pupils visited the apprentice workshop to make metal plates for the cross.
The inauguration and consecration of this successful joint project took place in the course of a mass on the mountain at the beginning of July 2014.
