A very welcome meter shy of flooding
voestalpine was mostly unscathed by the flooding that put parts of the capital city of Linz under water.
The reason that voestalpine was unharmed had a little to do with luck. After experiencing the flooding in 2002, the protective wall around the works at the Linz production site adjacent to the Danube river was heightened by exactly one meter over the past few years. This extra meter helped the production facilities remain dry.
The only part of the works affected by the flooding was the voestalpine Steel Service Center, which experienced a minimal amount of flooding. Operations there have been running at a normal pace since Wednesday.
