2014 Three-Country Corrosion Congress

On 8 and 9 May 2014, the ASMET Three-County Corrosion Congress will be held at voestalpine Stahlwelt. The conference revolves around the topic of corrosion protection systems in the automotive industry. Over the past few years, these systems have been continually improved to meet new requirements concerning light-weight design and process costs.

voestalpine is represented with two interesting presentations on the subjects of "Factors influencing the corrosion protection performance of press-hardening steel materials" (delivered by Gerald Luckeneder) and "Automotive corrosion protection—trends and challenges" (delivered by Karl-Heinz Stellnberger).

The range of topics covered in the conference encompasses new material designs for light-weight construction, metallic coating systems for corrosion protection, new nickel-free systems replacing phosphating and nickel-free adhesive systems, and innovative coating types in auto body painting. All this is rounded off by new, application-oriented corrosion tests for the approval process of entire car bodies and components/assemblies (e.g. electronic systems, exhaust systems).
