Do you need a sustainable passivation coating with outstanding corrosion protection properties and very good processing characteristics? Then clearcover® is the product of your choice.

clearcover® is the new, sustainable and environmentally friendly passivation coating without chromium or chromium compounds. The passivation is also free of other heavy metals.

The less than one μm thick inorganic coating on galvanized steel strip provides good storage and transport corrosion protection and supports formability and bondability in customer processes.

The possible elimination of energy and resource-intensive process steps such as oiling, degreasing and rinsing/drying at the processor reduces the ecological footprint and saves costs for time-intensive pretreatments.

Corrosion protection

clearcover® surfaces show a resistance to white rust after more than 96 hours of neutral salt spray testing pursuant to DIN EN ISO 9227 and over 50 cycles in alternating humidity and climate change testing (DIN EN ISO 6270-2 AHT). Setting new standards at voestalpine.

Direct coatability

clearcover® passivation can be painted directly as a powder coating or cathodic dip coating, even when cleaning processes have been omitted. This eliminates degreasing or other pre-treatment processes and energy-intensive drying steps at the customer. The result is a high level of environmental compatibility with constant or improved performance in terms of paint adhesion and corrosion protection.

Materials for hot forming

Press-hardening steels for hot forming are available in various strengths and are coated with zinc or zinc-iron. Best crash behavior, high dimensional accuracy and very good joining properties are the hallmarks of components made of these materials.

Zinc-iron (ZF) for corrosion protection with highest weldability requirements (galvannealed)

Metallic coatings Z and ZM are available with normal (N) and small spangles (M). The surface of zinc-iron coating is spangle-free. Upon customer request, voestalpine supplies different zinc coatings per side (differential galvanizing).

corrender is the high-performance zinc-magnesium-aluminum coating made by voestalpine.

This surface treatment provides excellent corrosion protection and processability, offering a high-performance alternative to conventional protective coatings for hot-dip galvanized steel strip. Corrender has been supplied in series since 2007, and voestalpine has established comprehensive product know-how and expertise in this area.

Yes! Available in a very large number of different colors, colofer® is available in many different designs that appear deceptively genuine, including stainless steel, wood or carbon. A special 3D feel makes our wood surfaces hard to differentiate from authentic wood surfaces. A broad portfolio of additional steel products and efficiency-enhancing treatments is also available.

The use of colofer® instead of powder-coated components saves costs!

colofer® is the brand name for pre-coated steel strip made by voestalpine. You can significantly reduce your costs and increase efficiency by switching from powder-coated components to colofer® CASING. colofer® CASING is characterized by particularly high scratch resistance and can be processed as a precoated product without the use of any protective film. With the help of the colofer® color service, the desired color shade can be easily reproduced and, thanks to the Steel Service Center, the product can be supplied in coils, cut sheets or slit strip.

Precoated steel strip for lighting

colofer®, the precoated steel strip made by voestalpine, can be formed easily and, depending on customer requirements, can be coated on one side (top side only) or on both sides (top and bottom side) with a coating specially developed for the lighting industry. Up to 95 gloss units and an epsilon value of ≥ 85 can be achieved. With the help of the colofer® color service, the desired color shade can be easily reproduced and, thanks to the Steel Service Center, the product can be supplied in coils, cut sheets or slit strip.

multicover is a sustainable sealant for hot-dip galvanized steel strip (Z).

Almost invisible and yet so effective

multicover® is a multifunctional, nearly invisible protective coating with excellent anti-fingerprint properties. The coating provides excellent corrosion protection during transport and storage and very good forming properties without having to employ any additional lubricants. Components coated with multicover® can be painted or adhesive-bonded without any additional conditioning and can be processed immediately. The surface features very good adhesive properties.

Are you familiar with corrender as a powerful alternative?

By adding magnesium (~1.5% by weight) and aluminum (~2.5% by weight) to the zinc strip, a high-performance protective layer is created which, with the same layer of the metallic protective layer, provides outstanding corrosion protection and excellent workability as compared to conventionally galvanized steel strip.
