Food warming shelves
Heated food shelves make it possible for employees at Forster to enjoy a hot lunch, even if they arrive a little late.
Reliable partner
Forster GmbH is an internationally renowned manufacturer of traffic and shelving systems, noise protection units, advertising technologies and signs as well as a supplier of industrial screen printing. Forster introduced the GOURMET system to provide employees with a hot lunch.
The problem
Once a week, the catering provider delivers preportioned and frozen meals. Since Forster has only a limited number of ovens, but the lunch break starts at the same time for everyone, it is never possible to simultaneously heat all the preportioned dishes.
The solution
In order to be able to serve everyone a hot lunch, heated shelving featuring tfs components was introduced as an interim solution. The shelves are operated at low voltage and heat homogeneously across the entire surface at a temperature of roughly 50 °C.
Practice has shown this to be the ideal temperature for food intended for immediate consumption.
The shelving was manufactured by Forster, while the steel blanks and conductor paths were designed and produced by the tfs team.
The first prototype went into operation in September 2020 and was a great success. The system has been running smoothly ever since. A second prototype has now been put into operation in the second production facility at Forster.
