Versatile functionality and countless possibilities
Our goal was clear from the beginning: Making steel an even more intelligent material.
The result of our intensive research has a resounding name: tailormade functional steel, or tfs for short!
Composite materials for success
The innovation of tfs lies in the manufacturing process and the resulting layer structure: The starting point is galvanized steel strip. Several insulation layers are applied in a coil coating process. Blanks are cut out of the steel strip in desired sizes, and conductor tracks are screen-printed onto the blanks. A top coat is then applied over the conductor tracks to protect them from any ambient effects.
These manufacturing steps result in a material that can perform a wide range of functions when supplied with a power source and a connection. It is important to note, however, that tfs is not a ready-to-use product. It is a technology that can be optimized to meet the specific demands of your own applications.
A new form of heat
One function of the integrated conductor tracks is resistance heating in the low-voltage range and at 230 volts. At a surface temperature of up to 100 °C, tfs reaches the infrared range that yields a pleasant radiant heat. A wide range of applications can also be found in the prevention of condensation and ice formation at ambient temperatures down to minus 40 °C.

Load recognition made easy
The tfs technology is also ideal for determining the loading status of shelves, parcel lockers or lockers for other valuables. This can prevent financial losses resulting from out-of-stock situations in retail and can increase turnaround in parcel and locker systems. Load detection will soon be augmented by weight measurement as well.

Controls of the future
Toggle switches are a thing of the past with tfs. The integrated sensor technology turns a surface of any size into a control element that is flat, flush and minimalistic. The capacitive sensors react to every touch and can control lighting systems as well as open doors and gates. There is no limit to the number of possible applications.

Invented for connection
The need for a cable or wire to connect a transmitter with a receiver is a thing of the past. Conventional cables become obsolete with tfs. Conductor tracks integrated into a steel surface set new standards of practicality and freedom of design while completely eliminating cable clutter.

Controls are good. tfs is better.
Another function of tfs is structural health and condition monitoring. This function can be used to detect structural changes or damage when conductor tracks are stretched or interrupted. Practical applications include burglar and vandalism detection followed by alarm activation.
