This intensive and comprehensive training course in Turkey was led by our expert Martin Rockenschaub. The participants benefited from a valuable mix of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises. The goal of the training was to prepare railway experts for the demands of modern railway operations and to provide them with the necessary expertise for efficient rail maintenance.
Theoretical training
The theoretical training sessions provided participants with a comprehensive insight into the various aspects of rail and turnout technology. The focus was on the specific properties and areas of application of manganese crossings and rail steel, which are crucial for the durability and performance of track systems. A comprehensive understanding of these properties is a fundamental prerequisite for successful and technically correct maintenance.
Another key area of focus in the theoretical training was the interaction between rail and wheel, particularly in tracks and turnout. Participants gained insight into how the contact point between wheel and rail has a significant impact on driving stability and wear. This knowledge is essential for identifying potential problem areas at an early stage and implementing targeted measures, which is crucial for maintaining optimal performance and reducing costs.
The training also covered the most common wear and rail faults. The participants learnt how to identify and assess these faults in order to enable them to react promptly and effectively. Specific focus was placed on ensuring accurate temperature control and adherence to welding procedures for rails and manganese crossings. To ensure the quality and durability of the weld, participants were provided with comprehensive instructions and illustrative examples of best practice.
Practical training
The practical sessions focused on applying the newly acquired knowledge. Under the expert guidance of Martin Rockenschaub, participants were given the opportunity to carry out repair welding on manganese crossings.
Another important part of the practical training was the manual grinding of rails. Precision is essential in rail welding as it contributes significantly to the surface quality and therefore the service life of the rails. The participants learnt efficient and safe grinding techniques to achieve optimum results.
The handling of the tracks was also an important topic during the practical part of the training. This is critical to identifying potential rail hazards and taking timely countermeasures. Participants learned how to weld rails efficiently and, most importantly, safely.
Summary and outlook
Our training programs are designed to provide rail professionals with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to meet the complex requirements of modern rail systems. The Railway Welding Training Program held in Turkey was extremely successful and provided participants with valuable insights and practical experience for their day-to-day work.
We would like to congratulate all the participants for their commitment and dedication during the course. Their active participation and willingness to acquire and apply new knowledge make a significant contribution to the optimization of railway operations.
