What excited me about the idea of doing an apprenticeship at voestalpine was that, in addition to extensive training and development opportunities, I have a secure job. The apprenticeship is also extremely varied and I can get a taste of a few different areas.
For example, I learn to look after hardware on the software side or to set up networks and virtual machines. I also take active steps to ensure that things run smoothly in my department in terms of IT equipment.
For anyone who wants to do an apprenticeship at voestalpine group-IT, I would recommend gaining as much experience as possible in the various departments after starting, building up knowledge and putting it to the test on a regular basis.
I can always prove my acquired knowledge in the daily challenges. Because one thing my apprenticeship is definitely: varied! When it comes to IT-related disruptions in the production environment or failures of other services, things have to happen quickly.
Thanks to the on-the-job training, I can also celebrate success at a young age. For me, success means completing projects in which everyone involved is satisfied at the end. It also makes me proud when I can solve critical problems in production-related ones.
What I particularly enjoy about my apprenticeship is that I have a lot of contact with customers from all over the world and also gain an insight into voestalpine's production environment as a result of my work. This is fascinating for me every time, as is the breadth of IT at voestalpine itself.
I also really enjoy the team-building seminars and the annual company outing is a highlight. I value the team spirit in my department: I know that I can always rely on my colleagues.
