The city of Linz remembers the Nazi victims of the Jewish faith with 22 steles. Their names, years of birth and the dates of deportation and murder can be found next to bells on the steles.
The steles were designed and implemented by the artist Andreas Strauss. Strauss made the bells together with the apprentices in the training center. The result is not only a masterpiece of craftsmanship, but also a successful piece of remembrance culture.
The special exhibition “Making of Remembrance Signs” shows how the craftsmanship of the voestalpine apprentices led them to a more critical examination of Nazi history.
