PERFORMANCE IN WIRE ensures green wire transportation - now a joint development of a protype wagon with Innofreight, Deutsche Bahn and voestalpine Wire Rod Austria GmbH is also providing support here with the clear aim of optimizing the transport of wire rod coils.

voestalpine Wire Technology's international sales teams from eight different countries came together in Donawitz this year to discuss important future topics such as sustainability, diversification, and innovation, and to highlight sales best practices together.

For the road to a green future, voestalpine has developed an ambitious and feasible step-by-step plan with greentec steel. In a first step, one electric arc furnace will be installed at each of the two sites in Linz and Donawitz. This technology conversion will enable the steel and technology group to reduce its emissions by up to 30% - equivalent to a saving of almost 4 million tons of CO₂ per year. The investment volume is around 1.5 billion euros. The traditional groundbreaking ceremony marks the start of construction work at the Donawitz site.

On August 29, 2023, voestalpine Wire Germany was honored to welcome Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joerg Steinbach, Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of the State of Brandenburg, to the site in Finsterwalde. Inspired by an online platform for bike trips, a voestalpine Wire Germany colleague spends four weeks in the saddle of his bike during a rather unusual vacation trip and masters the mountain bike ride of his life. He travels from Istanbul, Turkey, back to our production site in Finsterwalde, Germany on two wheels. An unforgettable time!
