Consciously safe - starts with teaching! This is how we live health and safety

Day after day, in all our business areas, at all our locations and with the same consistency and passion we dedicate to our products and services, we ensure the health and safety of our employees, who are our most important asset. Therefore, it is no surprise that health and safety is central to voestalpine’s corporate responsibility.

We assume responsibility for our employees from the very first day of work, while they are still in training. In December 2021, ten of our apprentices took part in a comprehensive "Consciously Safe" safety training course. With great motivation, the young trainees received further training in the area of occupational safety with the following goals:

Increase employees' personal responsibility in the area of health and safety
Active collaboration and communication
Helping to shape safety-related topics
Proactively identify potential hazards in the workplace
Use safety equipment in the workplace and report defects

Health & Safety Values

The content of the training was based on voestalpine's health & safety values. These are based on the following principles:

Health and safety have top priority.
Our managers stand for these core values and ensure that they are consistently observed.
Working safely is the basis for employment at voestalpine.
Our employees influence the health and safety of the entire workforce through their personal behavior in the workplace.
Responsible employees take care of themselves and their colleagues.
We also expect our contractors and partners to give priority to the health and safety of their employees.
Healthy employees are the foundation for a healthy and successful company.
Every workplace accident is one too many and is preventable.

At the end of the training day, the apprentices agreed: "Consciously safe, that's cool" and "the behavior of each and every one of us contributes to accident prevention."
