The steel plant at the Linz location is one of the cleanest and most innovative in the world. Many steelmakers make this claim about their production facilities, but only few of them let others look beyond the perimeter fences. We go one step further: After visiting the exhibition in the voestalpine Stahlwelt, you will be permitted to take a tour of some production lines, including a blast furnace and the production facilities of Automotive Components. This will allow you to experience the entire production process from ore to the car door.
The Stahlwelt tour bus
Specially equipped tour buses are available for your tour of the production lines. Other tour buses are not permitted on the plant premises. Multimedia technology and a knowledgeable chauffeur will provide you with a relaxed and informative tour of the largest industrial site in Austria.
You will be able to gain fascinating impressions of steel production and processing on the one-and-a-half-hour tour of the plant. Specially trained guides will accompany you the entire way.
First-hand look at production
In most cases you are given the opportunity to tour three large production facilities: Blast Furnace A, Hot Rolling Mill and Automotive Components. We ask for your understanding that we must plan your tour shortly before you arrive, so the facilities you actually visit will depend on operations at the time. Maintenance work and downtimes are commonplace at the largest industrial site in Austria, which is why some production lines can only be experienced to a limited extent at certain times. Your safety comes first!
Safety first
The plant tour is subject to special visitor regulations that are intended to keep you safe. Compliance is mandatory. Please make sure that you comply with the following rules: For safety reasons, children under the age of 6 are not allowed to participate in plant tours. It is absolutely necessary that you wear sturdy shoes (no sandals, flipflops, Crocs etc.) during the plant tour. We also recommend that you wear dirt-resistant clothing. You must be physically fit to participate in the plant tour. You will be climbing several flights of stairs with up to 90 steps. You must also be able to see and hear optical and acoustic warning signals.
