On 22 January 2015, voestalpine Nortrak was awarded a five year contract for the supply of special trackwork to Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).
The contract was for the supply of subway special trackwork assemblies that allow for the maintenance of TTC’s subway track system. Nortrak is proud to have supplied TTC with special trackwork for the past seventeen consecutive years. During that time, we have supplied many innovative solutions to TTC, such as jump frogs for reduced mainline traffic noise, welded manganese frogs for improved transition, and the LV brace system for improving gauge in legacy 100RA switches. In 2018 Nortrak will celebrate a twenty year partnership with TTC - a great achievement in the trackwork industry.
voestalpine Nortrak is proud to announce that we will be providing Grandlinq Contractors with special trackwork and switch machines for Stage 1 of the Waterloo Light Rail Transit Project which will run 19 km between Conestoga Mall in the City of Waterloo and Fairview Park Mall in the City of Kitchener. Delivery is expected to begin later this summer. The project will require 7 crossovers, 2 double crossovers, 4 turnouts and 3 gauntlet tracks on the mainline, another 14 turnouts in the Operations and Maintenance facility, plus 34 power switch machines and 12 manual switch stands. The complexity of the operating environment, which will include ballasted, direct fixation and embedded track, as well the requirement for multiple wheel profiles, makes Nortrak the ideal choice to design and manufacture this special trackwork.
