voestalpine Nortrak has installed the first Unistar-HR switch machine on CTA’s Blue Line at Rosemont station near O’Hare airport in Chicago.
The Unistar-HR was selected by CTA because it can accommodate a wide variety of installation configurations, and is compliant with AREMA specifications. “While Nortrak has been providing CTA with special trackwork for some time, we are now expanding that relationship by introducing advanced signaling technology such as fixed infrastructure asset monitoring (FIAM) and the Unistar-HR line of switch machines.” says Chris Nordstrom, Sales Manager for Nortrak. He adds “This combination of technology can improve the safety and reliability of any turnout, and allow developing problems to be identified and eliminated before they can cause train delays. We hope that this installation at CTA is the first of many.”
