    voestalpine is re-streamlining the Group’s structure; changes in the Management Board

    At today’s meeting of the voestalpine AG Supervisory Board, the unanimous vote ushered in a changing of the guard on the Management Board and set the course for a more efficient Group structure. The Automotive and Profilform divisions, which had been managed separately, will be merged to form a single division. This step is accompanied by a change in the Management Board that was preceded by a lengthy period of preparation. Herbert Eibensteiner will take over as head of the new division, succeeding Wolfgang Spreitzer (head of the Profilform Division) and Franz Hirschmanner (head of the Automotive Division).

    Compared to the first half of the previous year, the voestalpine Group achieved significant increases during the first six months of the current business year, both in revenue and in all reporting categories. Revenue rose by 15.1% from EUR 5,191.8 million in the previous year to EUR 5,977.7 million.

    voestalpine skygate: a cooperation between voestalpine and the Austrian Ski Association

    On November 4, 2011, voestalpine and the ÖSV presented their very special cooperation for the first time. In honor of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013 in Schladming, an extraordinary construction was erected in the finish arena of the Planai stadium. voestalpine skygate is the name of this architecturally outstanding symbol – an arch that the athletes have to pass under before they cross over the finish line.

    Annual General Meeting of voestalpine AG approves dividend of EUR 0.80 per share

    At the 19th Annual General Meeting of voestalpine AG today, July 6, 2011, a dividend of EUR 0.80 per dividend-bearing share was approved, which will be paid out starting July 18. The shareholders thus supported the recommendation of the Management Board and the Supervisory Board.

    voestalpine supports Caritas Japan project

    In mid April, soon after the severe earthquakes and devastating Tsunami, the Management Board of voestalpine AG decided to support the people of Japan with a major donation. A project was sought that would offer lasting support apart from regional news coverage. A project that would extend beyond current crisis management efforts and would provide long-term assistance.

    voestalpine is the leniency applicant in the German rail cartel

    The company has been in close contact with the German Federal Cartel Office as well as with the Public Prosecution Office in Bochum for several months and is working to fully and swiftly resolve the case. Due to the leniency application voestalpine has been restricted in publicising this information until now. As of today, the group expects to be exempted from any fines.

    Prix Ars Electronica 2011 – ...and the Golden Nicas go to...

    This year saw 3,611 projects from 74 countries competing in the Prix Ars Electronica international cyberarts competition, now in its twenty-fifth year. The press conference at which the winners were announced was held on May 26th 2011 at the voestalpine Stahlwelt center in Linz, Austria; the awards ceremony will be held on September 2nd 2011.

    voestalpine increases research budget to a record high

    voestalpine Group is spending more money than ever on the continued expansion of its research and technology development. According to the budget that was approved yesterday, Thursday, by the Supervisory Board of voestalpine AG for the business year 2011/12, which begins on April 1, R&D funds will increase from EUR 111 million by another 10% to an new high of more than EUR 120 million. This increase is based on higher budget volumes in all five divisions of the Group, with the Special Steel Division showing the most substantial growth at about 25%.

    voestalpine continues upward trend in the third quarter of 2010/11 - EBIT forecast for the 10/11 business year increased to 850 m EUR

    Against the general market trend, whereby the economic recovery showed the first signs of stagnation for steel products during the final quarter of last year, voestalpine not only achieved very significant increases in turnover and results during the first nine months of the 2010/11 business year, but also outperformed the figures of the directly preceding quarter during the 3rd quarter of 2010/11, for the sixth time in a row.
