The Wire & Tube 2024 in Düsseldorf, the world's leading trade fair for the wire and cable industry, opened its doors from April 15 to 19, 2024 and offered a fascinating insight into the latest developments and trends in the industry.

One of the highlights of the trade fair was undoubtedly the newly designed stand of voestalpine Wire Technology, a leading brand for premium wires and customized solutions on the European market for decades.

Under the motto "PERFORMANCE IN WIRE - WHERE PREMIUM QUALITY MEETS ECO-FRIENDLY EXCELLENCE 2027", the company presented pioneering approaches to combining top quality and environmentally friendly excellence.

Visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of voestalpine Wire Technology's metallurgical expertise. The newly designed exhibition stand enabled guests to immerse themselves in the world of PERFORMANCE IN WIRE. The "Innovation Box", where interested parties could work on individual solutions together with voestalpine experts in an exclusive environment, was also very popular.

voestalpine recently achieved a breakthrough in green steel production, producing the world's first high-quality "green" wire rod from hydrogen-reduced pure iron and scrap.

The groundbreaking smelting process was carried out at the Donawitz site in the Group's own Technikum Metallurgie (TechMet) research facility and marks a significant step towards CO₂-reduced steel production.

From 2027, our greentec steel design will be available for demanding applications. Join us on the path to premium wire solutions with a reduced CO₂ footprint!

Another highlight of the trade fair was the inspiring presentation by Dr. Walter Berger, Managing Director of voestalpine Forschungsservicegesellschaft Donawitz, who gave deep insights into the green transformation of the steel industry under the title "greentec steel". The focus was on insights into the decarbonization strategy and the step-by-step plan for green steel.
