Green energy from hydropower at voestalpine Wire Austria

A new project was launched in October 2024: The revitalization of the "Andrieu" weir, built in 1910, improves flood protection and habitat.

With an investment of 3 million euros, the company is demonstrating its commitment to a green environment. Under the motto "Green transformation instead of greenwashing", sustainability is becoming a living practice. This takes into account all essential ecological aspects for the preservation of the Mürz habitat.

The project, which is scheduled for completion in spring 2026, has several objectives

• Protection and preservation of the ecological habitat in the river Mürz (fish migration aid)

• Independence: Self-production of 40 % of energy requirements strengthens self-sufficiency.
• Green energy guarantee: 100% green energy and the use of recycled waste electricity at all Austrian locations.
