voestalpine Wire Austria GmbH, a company of the voestalpine Wire Technology Group, has always relied on the use of sustainable energy sources. To secure the long-term energy supply from hydropower, the revitalization of the almost 100-year-old "Andrieu" weir system was started in 2024.
With an investment volume of around 3 million euros, the project has several objectives:

The hydropower of the Mürz river has been used to generate energy since the 17th century. Today, two company-owned hydropower plants and photovoltaic systems cover up to 40% of the company's energy requirements, making a significant contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions.
The company is committed to the principle of "green transformation instead of greenwashing". In addition to energy supply, the measures also include CO2-neutral logistics concepts, sustainable production processes and material design.
