JobDay 2025 - A look behind the scenes

Once again this year, we welcomed numerous visitors and potential apprentices to our production site in Kindberg.
Once again this year, we welcomed numerous visitors and potential apprentices to our production site in Kindberg.
At the voestalpine Tubulars JobDay, young people and their parents had the opportunity to get to know the company at first hand and learn more about the wide range of career opportunities on offer. The day provided an ideal opportunity to gain initial experience and get an idea of the apprenticeships voestalpine Tubulars has to offer.
The JobDay, which has become a regular feature at the start of the year, took place on 17th January. On this day, we opened our doors to give interested young people an exciting insight into our working world.
The participants were able to experience different areas of our company at four stations:
At each station, there was not only theoretical information, but also practical tasks that reflected typical activities in the respective professions.
This allowed the young people to test their skills and gain a direct insight into everyday working life.
With JobDay, we show that our motto "weils ma do taugt" is more than just a slogan.
An apprenticeship with us not only impresses with its first-class training and attractive salary, but also with its unique team spirit. Apprentices are integrated as fully-fledged team members, can work independently and develop their strengths in a targeted manner. We attach great importance to communication at eye level.
As every year, a highlight of the JobDay was the tour of the hot-rolling mill. The tour starts in the raw material warehouse, where it is hard to imagine that 30,000 tonnes of material stored are processed into seamless tubes within a month.
The tour continues with the rotary hearth furnace - the heart of our hot-rolling mill - followed by the other production facilities. Our guides always have interesting facts to tell about each area, so the tour leaves us with not only visual impressions, but also educational information. For example, about training in metallurgy and metal forming.
In Mechanical Maintenance, there was a guided tour of the workshop, accompanied by an experienced foreman. Apprentices and employees presented the professions of mechanical engineering technology, welding technology and machining technology and offered practical insights.
Everyone was able to put their own manual skills to the test in turning, milling and welding. When asked which they liked better, welding or milling, one young person answered:
I like milling better, but basically I always think the main thing is to try it out.
Electrical maintenance gave the participants an insight into the professions of electrical engineering - plant and operations technology and electrical engineering - automation and process control technology.
Here, too, they were able to lend a hand and try out various practical tasks. The "cable tweaking" was particularly popular and always creates an amusing atmosphere.
I'm still passionate about this job and I enjoy giving young people an insight into this great profession,
said one employee.
The final stop on the JobDay tour took the young people and their parents to the material testing laboratory, which is also the final stage for our seamless tubes before they go to customers.
Our site has a test centre and an accredited testing laboratory. Here the visitors were able to see the various tests that our products are subjected to. Of particular interest was the notched bar impact test and the opportunity to view the microstructure of our products under a microscope.
Our apprentices were on hand to answer questions and provide an exciting insight into the day-to-day work of a materials technician.
After an extensive tour of the company, the day was rounded off with some snacks in a relaxed atmosphere where the young people and their parents could ask questions and reflect on the day's impressions.
JobDay 2025 was once again a great success and provided the participants with valuable guidance in their career choices.
Once again, voestalpine Tubulars presented itself as an attractive employer offering exciting development opportunities to young talents.
We would like to thank all participants and our dedicated employees who contributed to the success of this day with their full commitment.
Hopefully we were able to show you why "weils ma do taugt" is more than just a slogan. And who knows - maybe an apprenticeship with us is just the right thing for you?
