Anna's Garage is an innovative format for companies and schools with a focus on girls in technical professions. It is implemented by a group of companies that work at the interface between schools and companies, training, design thinking and gender equality.
And how would they represent this in an object? Twelve teams from five schools in the Styria region spent two days working on these questions at voestalpine Tubulars and the Volkshaus Kindberg. The students gave voestalpine Tubulars an insight into current issues from their point of view. In return, the students got to know the company and were able to apply and improve their skills in the areas of teamwork, communication and presentation in the context of voestalpine Tubulars. At the same time, they gained an insight into the innovation method of design thinking.
The solutions developed - implemented as prototypes - were presented on June 27, 2024 in the Volkshaus Kindberg in the presence of Mayor Christian Sander, who had previously officially opened the challenge.
The innovative format for companies and schools is intended to familiarize girls in particular with technical professions, arouse their interest in MINT professions (mathematics, information technology, natural sciences, engineering and technology) and encourage them to pursue a career in these professions.
The challenge in Kindberg is supported by the municipality of Kindberg, which was also involved in the development of Anna's Garage, and Regionalmanagement Obersteiermark Ost.
