Up to now, the waste heat generated during the production of seamless steel pipes has only been partially utilized, e.g. for space heating or hot water preparation. Until now, there has been no technically meaningful and economically justifiable system of recovering heat from the exhaust air of the rotary furnace. The construction of a municipal district heating network makes it possible to use the waste heat from the exhaust chimney of the rotary furnace. The heat is recovered from a newly constructed chimney by means of an exhaust gas/hot water heat exchanger. The heat is fed into the district heating plant via a newly constructed pipe system.
In two construction phases, a PV system is being installed on several factory building roofs at the site by the contracting party Verbund.
The total output of the system is approx. 8 MWp and the specific yield is 980 kWh/kWp*a. The installed area is 37,624 m2, with almost 20,000 modules. The PV system is designed as a surplus feeder into the kV grid.
