LIVING IN A CIRCULAR ECONOMY

The technology shift toward green production poses major challenges for the entire European steel industry. As a first step in achieving the target of steel production with net zero carbon emissions by 2050, voestalpine will be commissioning one electric arc furnace (EAF) at each of its Linz and Donawitz sites in 2027. These furnaces must be charged with high-quality scrap in order to ensure the premium quality that has always been a voestalpine hallmark. In a circular economy flagship project, partnerships are already being forged to secure our green future and show how our circular economy is possible in the high-end steelmaking sector.

FROM ZERO TO HERO

High-quality scrap is what it’s all about. The following video shows how we’re getting there and which process steps will be necessary.

We're going round in circles - and that's a good thing!
