LEMVIGH-MÜLLER: greentec steel IS BIG IN BUSINESS
The next piece of good news for the green commitment of voestalpine: Lemvigh-Müller, a Danish steel wholesaler who each year procures roughly 10,000 tons of hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel strip, colofer® and high-strength steel grades from the voestalpine Steel Division, is now banking on greentec steel. Many more companies will certainly follow suit.
A SIGNIFICANT AND SUSTAINABLE OFFER
Lemvigh-Müller is Denmark's largest wholesaler in the steel and machinery industries. With over 1,300 employees and more than 350,000 products, the company supplies a wide range of sectors from industry to construction and to utilities. The choice of high-quality and CO2-reduced steel products from the greentec steel edition pays into the sustainability strategy of Lemvigh-Müller and helps make the green alternative of voestalpine accessible to a wider range of customers.
STEP BY STEP TO GREEN PRODUCTION
At voestalpine we have devised a concise step-by-step plan for our environmentally conscious ambitions. The first stage has already been available on the market for some time in the form of CO2-reduced flat steel products from the greentec steel edition. By 2030, the plan is to gradually switch from the coal-based blast furnace route to green electricity-powered electric arc furnaces. The declared objective by 2050 is to successively increase the use of green hydrogen in the steelmaking process and thus ultimately achieve CO2-neutral production.
GREEN INNOVATION WITH A HOST OF FANS
The greentec steel of voestalpine is drawing ever wider circles on an international scale, from Lemvigh-Müller to OSO Hotwater, a Norwegian manufacturer of heat pump boilers, to BRUCHA, an Austrian hidden champion of insulation technology. The sustainable alternative is setting green accents, for example, in the form of colofer® as a greentec steel edition now being used, for example, by wine cooler pioneer Vestfrost.
What an encouraging trend! If things continue this way, greentec steel will soon be in use around the world - and the green revolution can't be stopped!
