Nickel Alloy Grades for Corrosive Environments

Nickel alloys 718, 725, and 925 are also known as superalloys. They simultaneously resist extreme temperatures, pressures, and corrosives. Trade names include Inconel and Incoloy.

Alloy 718

This nickel-chromium alloy delivers exceptional creep resistance, fatigue resistance, and tensile strength at temperatures ranging from cryogenic to 1,300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Applications include:

  • Exposed wellhead fittings, connectors, and valves
  • Deep drilling tools
  • Subsea risers, manifolds, and other equipment
  • Critical springs and fasteners
  • Gas turbine parts

API variants meet American Petroleum Institute requirements. BOHLER variants have a minimum yield strength of 150 ksi.

Alloy 725

This high-strength alloy has a higher molybdenum content. It allows for parts with large inner diameters and smaller outer diameters for enhanced production volume.

Alloy 925

This nickel alloy offers unbeatable corrosion resistance, especially for sulfide stress cracking. It’s commonly used in sour gas environments, such as downhole tubing, subsea and exposed valves, and petrochemical safety equipment.
