Mr. Eduardo M. Damy, founder of this company, started relationships with Ferrocarril del Pacífico S.A. de C.V. in the mid-1950s, with earthworks to expand the loading yard of the Guadalajara terminal.
During this decade, the steam locomotive system changed to the new diesel-electric locomotives; Mr. Damy contracts the dismantling of the old water tanks for steam locomotives, replacing them with fuel tanks for diesel-electric locomotives.
Mr. Damy invents a system that controls the unloading of the ballast on the track, avoiding the derailment of the hopper cars due to the excess in the unloading of the ballast.
The new system can interrupt the discharge of the ballast when desired, in addition to being able to deposit the ballast indifferently on either of the two rails, having a significant saving of material when crossing bridges, due to the new control system.
This was also the time that Damy started manufacturing for the U.S. railroads.
At the beginning of the 60's, Damy began the manufacture of some components for the gear change hardware for the track and some spare parts for rail cars and rehabilitation of parts for locomotives and bridge girders.
Damy sells its products to various US railroads: The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, Western Maryland Railway Company, The Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Company and for the construction of the Bay Rapid Transit System, of the San Francisco Metropolitan System, CA .
Damy developed the manufacturing line for Complete Track Gears and Accessories at the end of the 60's, such as gear shafts of different types, manufacturing for the first time in Mexico the complete gearbox No. 20 for high speed in 1967.
He was completing the manufacture of Cambios de Vía in the 70's, acquiring new machinery during this decade to be able to cover the capacity needs of the railways in Mexico; which require various types of Toads, Cruisers and Accessories.
In 1972 through the 80's, Damy designed the Vida double toad "Damy" which is intended for heavy traffic and low speed uses. The toads' rehabilitation system is also developed, being installed in their place of source. The company also manufactures parts for the express and passenger car Trucks, such as: Bolts, Setbacks, Connecting Rods, Chasers and parts in general for the Pullman Car Braking System.
In 1994, commercial relations were initiated with the ABC Rail Products Corporation of the USA. based in Chicago, due to the requirements of new specifications requested by Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México. In 1997 the two companies established a relationship through a joint venture, which ended in 2000 and Damy established his own marketing strategy with potential North American and Canadian clients.
In 2008, being Damy Cambios de Vía, S.A. de C.V. the leading company at the national level, a partnership is established with the company voestalpine Nortrak which is the undisputed leader in the U.S. market. and Canada for the manufacture and supply of gear hardware and other track materials. In this way, the company changes its name to Nortrak-Damy Cambios de Vía, S.A.P.I. de C.V., a subsidiary of the Austrian Voestalpine Group. The strategy is to have a presence in Mexico, offering support of Know-how and products that the group manufactures worldwide to the Mexican railways as well as access to manufacture and market Nortrak-Damy products to the rest of the world.
In 2010, the first track changes with European UIC specification were supplied for the SUBURBANO passenger railway located in Mexico City. Nortrak-Damy is the first national manufacturer to supply this specification in Mexico.
