July 9, 2015 | Leading Black Country cold roll forming specialist, voestalpine Metsec plc, is continuing its investment in the future of the manufacturing industry with six opportunities available to become part of its award-winning apprenticeship scheme.
The latest intake sees Metsec one step closer to its pioneering ambition to achieve a 20% home grown workforce by 2020. With both innovation and progression being fundamentals at the very core of the engineering industry, the continued investment in young manufacturers is just one element that allows Metsec to stay at the forefront of the cold roll-forming sector.
At present, 14% of Metsec employees have been through its award winning apprenticeship scheme - equating to almost 50 members of the workforce. All areas of training provided as part of the programme are carried out in-house in a state of the art training facility - something which is rarely seen within the industry.
This dedication to uncovering and nurturing talent within the company saw Metsec named the Express & Star’s Apprentice Employer of the Year for 2014, whilst also being recognised as Business of the Year at the Business is Good for the Black Country Awards in November of 2014.
Steve Giles, Environmental Safety and Training Manager at Metsec, commented:
“It’s vital within our industry to ensure we maintain growth and progression. To enable us to achieve this, it’s important that we dedicate resources to injecting new blood into our industry. We provide our apprentices with a full 360-degree view of the company, allowing them to gain a full understanding of each sector of the business, before integrating them with the team upon completion of the award winning four year apprenticeship scheme.”
Applications for the 2015 apprentice intake are open until 30th June. To find out more about Metsec’s apprenticeship programme including how to apply, visit http://www.metsec.com/about-us/company/jobs-careers/ or follow @MetsecUK on Twitter.
