Lateral thinking for the production of your desired cross-sections
Rollformen
Whether simple or complex: This continuous forming process can shape any end cross-section from flat strip material.
Having 22 roll forming lines at the Krems site, we are very well equipped. Depending on requirements and technical conditions, we choose between two forming processes - direct and round tube forming.
Direct forming
The strip used as raw material runs through roll-forming tools arranged in succession and is formed directly in stages to the desired cross-section.
Vorteile
- Enables tighter tolerances for weld seam centerlines
- Allows for smaller, sharper edges in the outer rounding area
- Less stress in the tube
- Better processability
- when punching
- during bending
- during laser processing
Round tube forming
Production takes place indirectly via a round tube. The flat steel strip is first formed into a round tube using the roll forming tools and welded lengthwise. After this, the tube is formed into a rectangular or square tube in the calibration line.
Benefits
- Enables a larger, more round-edged radius on the outside
- Enables an off-center weld seam position
- Increased strength values
- Thickening in the radius area
Material
voestalpine hollow sections and tubes are available in the following steel grades:
- Steel grades according to EN 10305-5, EN 10219-1, 3 and EN 10149 up to a yield strength of 460 MPa
- Fine-grained structural steels according to EN 10149 and EN 10219-3 from S500MH to S960MH
- voestalpine special steel grades
