Our Business Development Manager Anna Mad provides exciting insights into her day-to-day work. Find out how she found her way into this industry, what diverse tasks she masters on a daily basis and what she enjoys doing outside of work.
It all started with my chemistry teacher, who really encouraged me and got me interested in the subject. I then studied technical chemistry. My bachelor’s thesis was the first time I had anything to do with 3D printing and I couldn’t let go of it.
The proportion of women was already relatively low during my studies and only around 10% during my Master’s degree. At some point, it becomes less noticeable that you are the only woman or one of a few women in a group. For me, it makes no difference whether a woman or a man is sitting opposite me. And I have the feeling that this is also increasingly the case in society in general.
My tasks are very diverse. On the one hand, I visit customers to discuss possible applications in the field of coating and additive manufacturing. On the other hand, many organizational topics are also important. As new topics are constantly arising in Business Development, my tasks also include creating article numbers, searching for suppliers and processing customer inquiries.
I am also responsible for working together with our customers to identify which components have the potential to generate added value through customization on our part. As our solutions are often more cost-intensive, it doesn’t always make sense to implement all the proposed changes. It is therefore crucial to identify those components whose impact on the overall process is so big that the investment is worthwhile for the customer.
In the last 3.5 years, new topics have come up regularly. Especially in the area of our engineered products, we continue to develop regularly and new products are added to the portfolio. In the future, I will also place a strong focus on the Food & Beverage area.
My job is not just pure consulting for e.g. coating and additive manufacturing, I also have to understand the customer’s steel and production process, which is often a very varied challenge and fun.
The variety. My work is technically interesting, I have contact with lots of different people and I also get lots of exciting insights at the customer’s premises – not many people have this opportunity.
I try to set clear boundaries. Vacations are vacations, the company cell phone has no place there, just like after work.
I love bouldering and I also sew a lot. When I’m sewing in particular, I immerse myself in the world of sewing and replace my problems with broken needles and torn threads.
