The ultra-modern high bay warehousing systems from the voestalpine Group’s Metal Forming Division, made from highly sophisticated steel sections, are in demand worldwide. The company is currently implementing projects, among others, for Danish retail chain JYSK and South Korean tire manufacturer Nexen Tire Corporation. For Nexen Tire, voestalpine is building the tallest high bay warehouse in the Group’s history—50 meters—in the Czech Republic. The project is slated for completion in 2025. At the same time, voestalpine is pressing ahead with the ongoing expansion of production capacity in its Warehouse & Rack Solutions business unit, and recently opened a new production facility in the USA for the American market.

The voestalpine Metal Forming Division specializes in high-tech warehouse management solutions and provides a complete service, from planning and engineering to production and assembly.

A 50-meter high bay warehouse raises the bar

voestalpine is building two racking units, each 45 meters in height, made with 8,000 tons of steel, for a distribution center of furniture retailer JYSK in Lelystad, Netherlands. The warehouse, which will accommodate around 166,000 pallets, is slated for completion by December 2025. An Austrian furniture retail chain also opted for the voestalpine Group’s proven expertise to build its new central warehouse in the Austrian state of Burgenland with around 70,000 pallet bays. The project will be completed by October 2024. Another flagship project due for completion in 2025 is underway in Zatec in the Czech Republic, where voestalpine is building a 50-meter-high racking structure for Nexen Tire. The system is designed to store 18,000 tire pallets.

Numerous other silo-design projects are in progress for customers from the furniture, timber construction, and logistics industries, among others.

First production facility opens in North America

Netherlands-based voestalpine subsidiary Nedcon is also busy with a number of major projects, especially as a leading provider of in-house warehouse solutions not just in Europe but also in the North American market, where demand for high-tech storage systems is likewise on the rise. The recent commissioning of a new production site for storage systems in Louisville, Kentucky, is a strategic milestone in voestalpine’s progress towards sustainable growth in the USA. The plant has three production lines and is initially employing around 20 people. Further expansion of production and sales capacity for storage systems is planned.
