voestalpine secures major orders for renowned truck manufacturers and is expanding its production capacities in Indiana, USA

With its high-tech special tubes and sections, the voestalpine Group is an important partner for demanding customer segments such as the global construction, solar and automotive industries. Only recently, the Metal Forming Division of voestalpine signed new long-term contracts in this product area with two global truck manufacturers for the North American market. For this, the globally leading steel and technology group is expanding its production capacity at its existing site in Indiana, USA. The investment for the expansion amounts to EUR 70 million (USD 78 million) and will create 110 new jobs.

voestalpine is expanding its existing site in Jeffersonville, Indiana, by around 15,000 square meters of production space in order to ensure the necessary production capacity for the manufacture of high-quality structural components for Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks. Production capacity will be doubled to 80,000 tons, with production scheduled to start in 2026.

In Europe, voestalpine has been a leading player in rollforming complex special tubes and sections for the commercial vehicle sector for many years. We will now transfer this production know-how to the North American market and therefore further invest in our existing rollforming facilities. The current major orders provide the basis for this expansion and show the high level of trust our customers continue to place in voestalpine’s technologies.

Investment creates new jobs

In addition to the new hall, the EUR 70 million (USD 78 million) investment also includes the purchase of new equipment and will create 110 new jobs.

Just recently, voestalpine also opened a new production hall in Shelbyville, Kentucky, which also specializes in the manufacture of customized tube and section components.

Metal Forming Division

The Metal Forming Division is voestalpine’s center of competence for highly refined sections, tubes and precision strip steel products as well as for ready-to-install system components made of pressed, stamped and roll-formed parts.
