Gerhard Gerstmayr joins the Management Board of the voestalpine High Performance Metals Division

2022-05-02 |

Gerhard Gerstmayr (39) from Upper Austria has been a member of the Management Board of the voestalpine Group's High Performance Metals Division since April 1, 2022, succeeding Gerhard Lichtenegger, who has resigned from the Management Board. Gerstmayr, who was most recently Technical Managing Director of voestalpine BÖHLER Aerospace, is a member of the five-member Management Board of the division, responsible for areas including sustainability and the circular economy, research and development, and aerospace. The High Performance Metals Division specializes in the production and processing of tool and special steels, for example for the global automotive, energy and aerospace industries, and generated revenue of EUR 2.3 billion in the business year 2020/21 with around 12,600 employees.

In Gerhard Gerstmayr, we have been able to recruit a young yet experienced manager from our own ranks to join the Executive Board team of the High Performance Metals Division. With his extensive expertise in the aerospace industry, Gerhard Gerstmayr will make an important contribution to actively advancing our division's technology leadership in this segment in particular.

In addition to Head Franz Rotter and new addition Gerhard Gerstmayr, Robert Bauer (Production), Reinhard Nöbauer (Sales and Value Added Services) and Markus Potzinger (Finance) form the divisional board.

After completing his doctorate at the University of Leoben, Gerstmayr began his career in 2010 as Product Manager for engines, structural parts and energy products at the former Böhler Schmiedetechnik GmbH & Co KG (now: voestalpine BÖHLER Aerospace GmbH & Co KG). From 2014 he was Head of Marketing and Sales, before taking over the technical management of voestalpine BÖHLER Aerospace in 2020. Together with Commercial Director Thomas Kornfeld, Gerstmayr steered the company through the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and thus one of the most challenging times in the aerospace industry. Gerstmayr is handing over his responsibilities to Devrim Caliskanoglu, Managing Director of sister company voestalpine BÖHLER Profil GmbH, who will temporarily head both companies. Gerstmayr will remain Chairman of the Supervisory Board of voestalpine BÖHLER Aerospace.
