I have been part of voestalpine group-IT since March 2018, and before that I had already done an apprenticeship at the company since 2014. At the time, I simply wrote a speculative application for an apprenticeship, although none was advertised at the time. I tried it anyway and was then accepted.
During my apprenticeship, I rotated between different departments to get an overall picture of the company and learn something new in each area. At the beginning I was in the data center, then at the service desk, then briefly with the area supervisors and finally in the mobile device area, where I still work today. My first tasks in teaching were research tasks, documentation and looking after the data center. In the process, I also learned and often saw that it pays to maintain personal contact with people and not just communicate via e-mail. In my current position, I am responsible for the support of mobile devices from Linz to Krems. I have also taken further training to become an apprentice representative.
What I like most about my job is the cooperation with customers and colleagues, the varied tasks, the mutual helpfulness, and great group dynamics. What I really appreciate about my colleagues is that they are incredibly reliable. When I'm indisposed, I know I can always rely on them. I was given a lot of responsibility as an apprentice, and this has continued to grow right up to my current position. I very much enjoy the trust that has been placed in me and continues to be placed in me. The benefits I also like best at group-IT are the flexible working hours, the low-priced hot lunch, and the performance bonuses.
I can only advise everyone to be interested and curious on the job. If you show that you are willing and able, you will always be welcomed with open arms at group-IT.
