Pressing ahead - Second 3D sand printer in action
The voestalpine Foundry Group is expanding its 3D sand printing competence centre with another high-tech printer.
Major sales successes have already been scored following the very successful introduction of 3D sand printing technology in the foundry production process (as reported in the news sheet). With the aim of staying on this successful course and being able to meet further enquiries on schedule, the voestalpine Foundry Group decided to put a second printer into operation at the Traisen site in August. An international team of specialists worked intensively for about three months to ensure smooth installation.
With more than 5 m³, the second printer has a larger installation space than its colleague and impresses with a printing speed that is more than twice as fast. The voestalpine Foundry Group is pioneering 3D printing of large sand molds. The additional printer will enable the Foundry Group to press ahead as a specialist for complex and high-quality castings with even greater force.
